RNA Amplification

The WCIMC uses Applied Biosystems amplification kits when the investigator cannot meet the minimum requirements for a platform. Starting from as little as 50 ng of total RNA, we have achieved very good results with these kits. However, when using such low quantities of starting material, it is not possible to assess the quantity or quality of the RNA until after the amplification process is completed. Therefore, we cannot guarantee against amplification failure if the starting material is not of high quality. Also, the design of the microarray experiment should include amplification of all samples, since it is not recommended to compare amplified and unamplified RNA samples by microarray.
